More problems arose for a nursing home in Nampa, Idaho following a follow-up inspection. Initial complaints of abuse and neglect back in July prompted an inspection, and many of the issues found have not been addressed.
The initial July complaints prompted an inspection into allegations of abuse and neglect at Holly Lane. The inspection did indeed find instances of the allegations made. One such instance saw a resident hospitalized for dehydration and poor hygiene. That resident died two days later.
The facility told the Department of Health and Human Welfare that the issues had been resolved. A follow-up inspection in October revealed more problems.
Although its doors are still open, Holly Lane hasn’t been able to accept new Medicare or Medicaid patients. The number of residents has fallen from 89 to 50.
If the old and new issues alike aren’t corrected by January, Holly Lane could be forced to close its doors.
The October inspection report detailed more than nineteen violations over more than 100 pages.
Medical mistreatment and a dirty dining room were among the violations.
One serious offense involved a quadriplegic woman who is unable to speak. The violation contends that staff at Holly Lane did not investigate how a cut of “unknown origin” appeared on the woman’s breast.
The report says that the issue was immediately addressed and investigated and Holly Lane’s Abuse Prevention Policy was updated.
Holly lane has until January 18th to correct all 19 violations.
